Pain's Pendulum A painting by Marcia White.

Most people experience a time in their lives when they suffer intense, "SCREAMING" pain. Often carried beneath the surface, unseen, ongoing, and deeply felt. Physical, emotional or mental: shaped by loss, illness, rejection or fear.

The artist, has considered pain as part of a larger movement. Like a pendulum, and life itself, shifting between states. Pain can be overwhelming, but it is not the whole picture, and not the whole of the motion: change remains possible. Moments, periods, and times of ease do return.

2026, Acrylic on Canvas £370.

A3 prints on fine art paper £55.

Pain’s Pendulum – on display from 5th to 26th February 2026, at Brixton Tate Library, London, during LGBTQ+ History Month; part of the art exhibition ‘UNDER OUR SKIN” curated by Xavier White.
